Assembly launches dedicated fashion & beauty department

Assembly, has announced the launch of a new, dedicated Beauty division within its VFX department, helmed by industry veterans Josh Laurence and Alan Balian.

Josh Laurence joins Assembly as VFX Supervisor, with 32-years of experience in the Advertising, Fashion, and Feature Film industries as a Beauty artist. Josh spent 11 years establishing a premiere film and commercial Beauty studio in New York and Chennai – supervising finishing for Prada, Chloe, Gucci, Estee Lauder, Maybelline, Pat McGrath, David Yurman, Harry Winston, Tom Ford, and many others. 

In addition to Beauty for advertising, Josh also led teams of artists on projects for major studios such as HBO, Warner Brothers, MGM, and others. At Assembly Josh is bringing his experience to service top fashion, beauty and luxury brands in executing top-tier video content.

Alan Balain

Alan Balian is Assembly’s new Executive Producer of Beauty and Luxury. Alan has worked at the forefront of fashion, beauty and luxury goods content creation for two decades, including 8 years at Gloss Studios.

He has been heavily involved in guiding the industry’s top photographers through the early days of digital photography and into motion capture, to supervising video editing, color grading, and VFX services for iconic brands such as clients Prada, Chloe, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Gucci.

Alan’s technological and creative expertise complements Assembly’s core mission to utilize versatile, industry-leading technologies to facilitate premier creative environments for clientele, from film to fashion and more.

Together at Assembly, the team has recently developed work for Beauty brands such as Pat McGrath, Harry Winston and Zeghani Jewelry, in addition to films featuring Naomi Campbell, Nicola Coughlan, Halle Berry and Jennifer Lawrence.
