Director Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman franchise, X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass, Layer Cake), has dispelled rumors suggesting that Taylor Swift is the mysterious author, Elly Conway, behind the Argylle book, which served as the inspiration for the upcoming spy thriller.
Swift’s fans, known as “Swifties” speculated that the music icon, known for her love of argyle sweaters and ownership of Scottish Fold cats, might be the real “Elly Conway,” the pseudonymous writer behind the manuscript.
Argylle features an ensemble cast, including Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Henry Cavill, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson, Dua Lipa, and Catherine O’Hara. Watch the trailer below:

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Vaughn addressed the rumors, clarifying that Taylor Swift did not write the book. He shared an amusing anecdote about his daughter approaching him, convinced that Swift was the author. Vaughn stated, “It’s not true! She didn’t write the book! But my daughter was convinced of it.”
Vaughn emphasized that there is indeed a real book with a legitimate author, Elly Conway, and it’s not Swift. He expressed his desire not to contribute to false claims and acknowledged the power of internet speculation.
However, Vaughn admitted that Swift served as an inspiration for Argylle. The presence of a Scottish Fold cat in the film was influenced by Swift, as Vaughn and his wife adopted the cat after their daughters saw Swift’s Scottish Fold in her Netflix documentary “Miss Americana.”
The film is set to open in theaters on February 2, produced by Apple and Universal Pictures.
