Arclight films boards int’l sales for ‘Devil to Pay’

Arclight Films is launching international sales on the acclaimed horror-thriller The Devil to Pay starring fast-rising actress Danielle Deadwyler (HBO’s Watchmen, FX’s Atlanta), Catherine Dyer (Netflix’s Stranger Things, The Blindside) and Jayson Warner Smith (AMC’s The Walking Dead, American Made), it was announced today by company Chairman Gary Hamilton.

Arclight Films will present the film to buyers ahead of the upcoming American Film Market and will be screening the film at the market for the first time.

After the disappearance of her husband, a struggling farmer in an isolated Appalachian community fights to save her son when the cold-hearted matriarch of the oldest family on the mountain demands payment of a debt that could destroy a decade’s old truce.

Lane Skye and Ruckus Skye wrote and directed the film, and produced alongside Deadwyler, Martin L. Kelley, Allison Maier, and Gabriel Olson. The Skyes are also the screenwriting team behind this summer’s hit horror-thriller Becky starring Lulu Wilson, Kevin James, Joel McHale, which spent two weekends at number one at the US Box office.

“Danielle is a formidable talent, leading this gripping tale of familial defense through its pulse-racing twists and turns, as excellently plotted by Lane and Ruckus,” said Hamilton. “Our buyers have shown a consistent appetite for this kind of cerebral, elevated horror-thriller that both entertains and enlightens. We could not be more proud to add this special film to our AFM slate.”

“This film was a true labor of love for us and we are so excited to partner with Arclight Films to help share this twisted Southern Gothic tale with the world at large”, said Lane Skye. “And along with that, exposing a wider audience to the brilliance of Danielle Deadwyler”, added Ruckus.

A Crooked Crow Films and Buckhead Film Group production, The Devil to Pay was released in the US through UnCork’d Entertainment and Dark Star Pictures on October 6th.

The project was introduced to Arclight Films by Grant Bradley.
