In a move that further strengthens its leadership team and digital capabilities, independent creative agency Hanson Dodge (HD) has announced the return of Angie Rothen as its new Chief Technology and Security Officer (CTSO). Rothen also joins the agency’s executive leadership team, marking another bold step in HD’s ongoing evolution.

A seasoned technology leader with more than 20 years of experience, Rothen previously served as Head of Technology at Hanson Dodge from 2015 to 2019. Her return follows a tenure as SVP of Technology Governance at Allstate Benefits and Principal of her own consultancy, CybrDynamix, where she focused on cybersecurity, technology governance, and enterprise solutions.

The news follows HD’s recent appointment of Mike Roe as the agency’s first-ever Chief Creative Officer earlier this year—demonstrating HD’s commitment to expanding both its creative and technical vision for the future.

“As we look to amplify our digital, technical, and cybersecurity expertise, I have first-hand experience of the success we achieved under Angie’s leadership,” said Stacie Boney, President of Hanson Dodge. “She helped us reach Kentico and Sitecore gold partner status and guided award-winning work across platforms. Her expanded cybersecurity and governance experience is a perfect match for where HD and our clients are headed.”

Rothen brings an extensive resume to the role, including leadership in CMS development, cloud tech, governance, SaaS integration, infrastructure, and IT portfolio management—with budgets reaching up to $100 million. Her strategic oversight will guide HD’s Technology team, support digital innovation across client brands, and ensure a secure, forward-facing foundation for the agency’s work.

“In recent years, HD has delivered impressive digital campaigns like the award-winning Visit Utah site,” said Rothen. “I’m thrilled to rejoin the agency at a time when creativity and technology are more deeply integrated than ever. By leading initiatives at their intersection—where innovation thrives—we’ll deliver even greater impact for our clients.”

The appointment comes during a period of momentum for the Milwaukee-based agency. In 2024, Hanson Dodge recorded double-digit revenue growth and won several new clients and assignments, including LIXIL North America (the agency’s largest account to date), JOJO’s Chocolate, Baxter Planning, Grey/Orange, and additional work from long-standing partners such as fireside MARKET by Potawatomi Ventures.

“With Angie and Mike both now on our leadership team, Hanson Dodge is positioned exactly where we need to be to continue our mission—helping clients and people make the next great leap,” said Boney.

Rothen assumes her new role immediately. Reel 360 News wishes Angie the best of luck in her new role.
