Major Character is back… sort of… in international Matrix trailer

Matrix
(Neo and Trinity are back)

We are only 15 days away from re-entering The Matrix, when Lana Wachowski’s The Matrix: Resurrections opens in theaters and on HBO Max.

Now, Warner Bros has released the second (and probably final) trailer as well as an international one for the film which is still fairly shrouded in secrecy.

In the new trailer for The Matrix Resurrections, we see Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) are joined by a familiar character, but not how you think. Agent Smith, who was brilliantly brought to life by Hugo Weaving, is back. Sort of.

Actor Jonathan Groff (Hamilton) seems to be picking up where Weaving left off as he has all of Smith’s mannerisms and even his cadence is similar. Weaving made it clear a while back that he would not be appearing in the new Matrix.

There’s a lot of new mind-bending, action-packed footage to take in, but it’s all still pretty random action shots, not really giving us a clue as to how Neo and Trinity are back, as they both died at the end of The Matrix: Revolutions. But Neo is definitely going through something and begins to remember… Watch below:
