An accident on the set of the upcoming heist film The Pickup, starring Eddie Murphy and Keke Palmer, has left several crew members injured. The incident occurred during a second unit action sequence in Atlanta, where the film is being shot for Amazon MGM Studios.
According to a spokesperson for Amazon MGM Studios, the accident happened during a rehearsed action sequence that did not go as planned. “Unfortunately, the sequence did not go as planned and several members of the crew were injured as a result,” the spokesperson stated. The well-being of the crew and cast is their first priority, and they are actively gathering information on the incident.
Reports from the Associated Press indicate that the accident was a car crash involving a truck that “locked up” and hit another vehicle. An anonymous source described it as a “completely freak accident” during a stunt that was not considered especially dangerous. Two crew members were hospitalized, with one remaining in the hospital as of Tuesday. The injuries ranged from bumps and bruises to broken bones.
