Where The Buffalo Roam Signs Director Geordie Stephens

Geordi Stephens

Creative production company Where The Buffalo Roam (WTBR) has welcomed director Geordie Stephens to its roster for U.S. commercials and branded content. Renowned for his performance-driven comedic approach and keen eye for art direction, production design, and cinematography, Stephens brings a wealth of experience to WTBR.

His impressive portfolio includes work for global brands like Mini Cooper, HP, Toyota, Bud Light, and Burger King. Previously represented by Tool of North America and FANCY, Stephens transitioned to directing after a successful agency career with stints at Butler, Shine & Stern, CP+B Miami, and others.

“As we embark on 2025, we’re excited to have Geordie join the WTBR family,” said PJ Koll, WTBR Co-Founder and Executive Producer. “His unique blend of expertise and creativity aligns perfectly with our vision and elevates our ability to deliver exceptional work. We feel lucky to have him in the herd.”

Stephens shares the enthusiasm: “When I first met Tim and PJ, we clicked immediately. They’re sharp, funny, and genuinely great people with diverse talents who’ve curated a dynamic team. As a director, I aim to uncover simple, universal truths with humor and intelligence. WTBR specializes in subtlety and wit, making it the ideal place to continue pushing boundaries and creating meaningful work.”

Stephens’s advertising career includes acclaimed campaigns for IKEA, Truth, Virgin Atlantic, Burger King, Sprite, and VW. Recognized as one of Ad Age’s top 25 global art directors, his work has earned prestigious honors, including Cannes Lions, Clios, and accolades from The One Show and AICP.

Raised in Marin County, California, in an artistic household—his mother a writer and father an architect—Stephens initially pursued athletics, excelling in competitive gymnastics, cliff diving, and motorcycle racing. His creative path began in college, where he majored in Sculpture and Installation Art, followed by Graphic Design in graduate school, leading to his art direction career.

“I’ve always loved the process of creating,” Stephens said. “As an agency creative, I wrote comedic dialogue, and I carried that passion into directing—crafting conversations between brands and audiences. That’s always been my goal in advertising.”

Now based back in his Marin County hometown, Stephens sees this chapter with WTBR as an exciting evolution. “Returning to my roots has given me fresh perspective and balance. WTBR feels like a holistic next step in my creative journey, and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.”
