Some kids spend their summers lifeguarding. Others sling lattes. Wednesday Addams? She tracks down serial killers. Netflix unveiled the opening six minutes of Wednesday Season 2 during Tudum 2025, and let’s just say: we are so back.
Titled “Here We Woe Again,” the premiere drops us straight into Wednesday’s summer escapade — one that involves airport security, an underground doll dungeon, and her long-standing obsession: the Kansas City Scalper, America’s most elusive hair-obsessed serial killer.
We open on a flashback of six-year-old Wednesday traumatizing classmates with gruesome murder facts — a goth TED Talk. Cut to present-day: Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) and her loyal reanimated hand, Thing, are trying to fly — but get flagged at TSA. Not for the nunchucks, mace, or kitchen knives. No, it’s the sunscreen that’s the issue. Because modern life is hell, even for the undead.
“All of these weapons weren’t the problem,” co-creator Alfred Gough deadpans. “It was the carry-on liquids.”
After landing in Kansas City, Wednesday confronts her prime suspect: a greasy pet groomer/beauty school dropout named Chet, played by a wonderfully unhinged Haley Joel Osment. Her attempt to tase him backfires, triggering one of her psychic visions. Only this time, she’s weeping black tears.
“Her powers are glitching,” says showrunner Miles Millar. “She’s spent the summer mastering them — but something’s gone wrong.”
The sequence ends with Wednesday tied up in Chet’s twisted basement lair, surrounded by dolls — including one that looks disturbingly like her. But don’t worry: Thing was hiding inside one. In true Addams fashion, the rescue is delightfully morbid. Wednesday unties herself, grabs a massive knife, and delivers the ultimate deadpan: “Now… let’s play dolls.” Watch the 6 minutes below:
Boom. Goth Barbie could never.
What’s Next?
Season 2 promises a darker, deeper dive into Wednesday’s psyche. With her powers malfunctioning and Nevermore Academy calling her back, she’ll have to unravel the mystery of her visions — and possibly herself.
The season will roll out in two parts:
Part 1 premieres August 6
Part 2 drops September 3
Also… Lady Gaga is officially in the cast. Yes, that Lady Gaga. Expect chaos, couture, and probably a song you’ll hear on TikTok for the next six months. Stay weird. Stay woeful. Wednesday’s coming for blood — and TSA rules.
