Warner Bros releases trailer for Nolan’s ‘Tenet’

Has Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight, Inception) gone and made a time travel movie? From the looks of the first teaser for Tenet, his new thriller starring John David Washington (BlackKklansman) and Robert Pattison (the upcoming The Batman) it certainly seems that way.

Warner Bros released the trailer today and while it doesn’t exactly give us the plot, we do get a visual smorgasbord as to what the look and tone of the film will be.

When the studio announced Nolan had begun filming last May, we were told that Tenet was an espionage thriller. And while that seems to still be the case, (at least we know agents Washington and Pattinson must stop World War III) there does appear to be a major sci-fi element.

As you can see Washington isn’t given a whole lot to say amid the action and the driving score. But we do get an Inception vibe from the film. Take a look at the poster below:

Nolan is directing from his own original screenplay, utilizing a mixture of IMAX® and 70mm film to bring the story to the screen.

The international ensemble cast is led by John David Washington and also stars Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, with Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.

The film is being produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas. Thomas Hayslip is serving as executive producer.

Nolan’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema, production designer Nathan Crowley, editor Jennifer Lame, costume designer Jeffrey Kurland, and visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson. The score is being composed by Ludwig Göransson.

Warner Bros. has slated the film for a July 17, 2020 release.
