Welp, guess Trevor Noah’s jokes didn’t land with everyone last night. President Donald Trump has lashed out at the Grammy Awards and threatened legal action against host Noah following jokes made during Sunday night’s ceremony.
The former president took aim at the Feb. 1 broadcast after Noah joked onstage that Trump had spent time on Jeffrey Epstein’s private island. Trump responded on his Truth Social platform, sharply criticizing both the show and its host.
“The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable! CBS is lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer,” Trump wrote. “The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards.”
Trump specifically objected to Noah’s reference to Epstein, writing, “Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island.
“WRONG!!! I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory, statement, have never been accused being there, not even by the Fake News Media. (sic)”
Trump went on to suggest legal action if Noah did not retract the joke, escalating his language further in subsequent posts. “Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast,” he continued. “It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$.”
“Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!” “President DJT (sic)”
Noah’s remarks came shortly after Billie Eilish won Song of the Year for “Wildflower.” While congratulating her, the host joked, “There you have it, song of the year! Congratulations, Billie Eilish. Wow. That’s a Grammy that every artist wants, almost as much as Trump wants Greenland.
“Which makes sense because, since Epstein’s gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton.”
Later in the broadcast, Noah also made jokes referencing Nicki Minaj, who was not in attendance. “Nicki Minaj is not here. She is not here,” Noah said, drawing laughter and applause from the crowd inside the arena.
The moment appeared to get visible approval from Chrissy Teigen, who gave Noah a thumbs-up while seated with her husband, John Legend. Noah continued the bit, adding, “She is still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues.”
He then launched into an impression of Trump, saying: “Actually Nicki, I have the biggest ass. I have it, everybody’s saying it, Nicki. I know they say it’s you, but it’s me WAP, WAP, WAP. Look at it, baby.”
Minaj recently made headlines after describing herself as Trump’s “number one fan,” a remark that has fueled ongoing debate and reaction across social media.
