Tom Cruise celebrates 60th bday the only way Tom Cruise would

Cruise
(Is that TC hanging from a plane or TC flying and holding the plane?)

For many, a 60th birthday means going to Denny’s for the Senior’s Special. For megastar, Tom Cruise, it would probably mean landing an out-of-control helicopter on top of that Denny’s, then run as the building explodes.

No other actor today brings as much passion and surprise to a movie role than the actor who should be the poster child(?) for AARP. Whether it’s playing Maverick in Top Gun or Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible franchise, no other actor is doing what Cruise does.

To celebrate Cruise’s 60th (he doesn’t look a day over 40) birthday, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One director Christopher McQuarrie has shared an insane new BTS photo from Dead Reckoning Part Two, which is currently filming.

The image features Cruise hanging from a red biplane. This is a pic from a scene that was teased during CinemaCon in April. One look tells us this is possible Cruise’s most death-defying stunt yet. He really does like to shake hands with the Grim Reaper doesn’t he? Look below:

Cruise’s billion-dollar blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick continues to slay box office run over the Fourth of July and should finish second this weekend behind Minions: The Rise of Gru – a remarkable accomplishment after being in theaters for a little over a month. TG:M now the twelfth-highest grossing film of all-time domestically and has reached #43 worldwide.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part I will reunite Cruise with Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, Academy Award-nominee Vanessa Kirby as the White Widow, Frederick Schmidt as Zola, and Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge.

Newcomers to the franchise include Hayley Atwell (Avengers: Endgame; Captain America: The First Avenger, Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) as Grace, Shea Whigham (Perry Mason; Marvel’s Agent Carter), Pom Klementieff (Avengers: Endgame; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Esai Morales (Titans; Ozark), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2; Hobbs & Shaw), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride; Saw), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones; Carnival Row), Mark Gatiss (The Father; The Favorite), Charles Parnell (Top Gun: Maverick; Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Greg Tarzan Davis (Top Gun: Maverick; Grey’s Anatomy). Watch the trailer below:

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One lights the fuse in theaters on July 14, 2023; with the expected franchise finale, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, set to arrive the following year on June 28, 2024.

Happy Birthday, Tom Cruise. Can’t wait to see what you do for your 70th.
