
Pizza Hut is kicking off 2026 by tapping one of football’s most recognizable voices. The brand has teamed up with legendary quarterback Tom Brady to launch “Pizza Before the Hut,” a new campaign from VML that introduces Pizza Hut’s $10 Big New Yorker deal and turns a familiar football call into a nationwide rallying cry.
In football, “hut” is the signal that starts every play. Few people have said it more than Brady. The campaign leans into that cultural overlap, playfully reframing decades of quarterback calls as accidental Pizza Hut advertising hiding in plain sight.
Created by VML and directed by Erich Joiner of Tool, the hero spot imagines Brady trading his playbook for a Pizza Hut delivery bag. Now retired from the NFL, he finds a second act as a Pizza Hut delivery driver, allowing him to keep saying “hut” long after leaving the field.
The result is a self-aware, comedic take that connects sports tradition with Pizza Hut’s brand name in a way that feels obvious in hindsight. Watch below:
“Football has been advertising Pizza Hut for years,” said Ryan Blum, chief creative officer at VML. “Its name is said more than fifty times in every game. All we did was turn those quarterback calls into a simple reminder for fans to order Pizza Hut before kickoff. And having Tom Brady, the man who’s said ‘hut’ more than anyone, introduce the idea felt less like casting and more like bringing two greats together.”
The campaign also introduces a participatory challenge for college football and NFL fans. Any city that can convince its quarterback to say “pizza” immediately before “hut” during a nationally televised game will win a free postseason pizza party for the entire city.
“When you launch the Big New Yorker for just $10, you’ve got to go big,” added Melissa Friebe, chief marketing officer at Pizza Hut. “That meant partnering with the biggest name in football and creating a challenge worthy of the moment. No one does ‘hut’ like Tom Brady, and now we’re having fun turning it into something only Pizza Hut could do.”
“Pizza Before the Hut” is rolling out nationwide across TV, digital, and social platforms.
