Tiger Woods in hospital after crash

Following a serious rollover single-car accident in L.A. County, iconic golfer Tiger Woods was hospitalized. Officials reportedly required the jaws of life to free Woods from his vehicle.

“On February 23, 2021, at approximately 7:12 AM,  LASD responded to a single vehicle roll-over traffic collision on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Ranchos Palos Verdes,” LA County Sheriffs said in a tweet.

“The vehicle was traveling northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, at Blackhorse Road, when it crashed. The vehicle sustained major damage.”

“The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods,” officials confirmed.

“Mr. Woods was extricated from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life’ by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries.”

The 45-year-old golfer was in the area for his annual Genesis Invitational golf tournament at the Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades.

Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, released the following statement about the incident:

“Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”

Retired NBA star Dwyane Wade posted Tuesday on Instagram that he had played a practice round with Woods on Monday.

This is not the first time Tiger has been in a serious car accident — he crashed his SUV in a 2009 outside his home in Florida. In 2017, he was arrested after police found him passed out behind the wheel of his car.
