The Studio, Severance lead 77th Emmy nominations

Emmy Studio

The Television Academy unveiled the nominations for the 77th Emmy Awards today from the Wolf Theatre at the Saban Media Center, capping off what it called the largest voter turnout in Emmys history. This year’s nominations were announced by actors Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) and Brenda Song (Running Point), joined by Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego.

“In a year when the industry has continued to evolve — creatively, structurally and economically — one thing remains clear: powerful performances and compelling stories still cut through,” said Abrego. “It’s a reminder of the impact incredible television and exceptional artists have on all of us.”

Making headlines this year, The Studio tied the all-time record for most comedy nominations in a single year with 23, a milestone previously set by The Bear in 2024. On the drama side, Severance led the field with 27 nominations.

Fifteen-year-old Owen Cooper (Adolescence) became the youngest-ever nominee in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited/Anthology Series or TV Movie category. Across all performer categories, 33 artists earned their first-ever nominations, including Javier Bardem, Ike Barinholtz, Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Zoë Kravitz, Anthony Mackie, Cristin Milioti, Chloë Sevigny, J.K. Simmons, and Tramell Tillman, among others.

Several performers notched multiple nominations this year. Seth Rogen received three for performance, writing, and directing for The Studio. Quinta Brunson was recognized for both performance and writing for Abbott Elementary, while Ayo Edebiri earned nods for acting and directing for The Bear. Colin Farrell, Stephen Graham, Julianne Nicholson, Catherine O’Hara, and Michelle Williams also received multiple nominations for their work across different series.

Final-round voting begins August 18, 2025. The 77th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, September 14 on CBS and stream simultaneously on Paramount+. Comedian Nate Bargatze is set to host the ceremony, produced for the third consecutive year by Jesse Collins Entertainment.
