Tax season has never looked cooler than in CoinTracker campaign

CoinTracker

Who said crypto and taxes couldn’t be stylish? CoinTracker, the platform that makes crypto tax reporting (dare we say?) almost fun, has teamed up with global digital agency DEPT and production house Bella to launch a refreshingly quirky and cinematic campaign titled “Free Yourself.”

Directed by Angela Kohler, the campaign’s bite-sized character studies—“Inspired Climber,” “Eccentric Cowboy,” and “Millennial Dad”—are now rolling out across YouTube and social, offering up a highly stylized look at the wonderfully weird world of crypto users.

The concept: spotlight crypto’s most original fans doing what they love—unbothered, unburdened, and blissfully untaxed. “With ‘Free Yourself,’ we’re not just championing an easier crypto tax solution—we’re shaping a brand that celebrates genuine liberation,” said Thomas Sweeney, CoinTracker’s Head of Growth. “It’s about giving people more time to focus on what truly matters.” Watch below:

Less Stress. More Style.

Shot in a single whirlwind day at Cherry Soda Studios in L.A., the campaign brings a lot of flair to familiar archetypes. From a cowboy who sips tea while reciting poetry to a dad meditating in a pastel-lit living room, each vignette pops with lush colors, bespoke props (shoutout to that HODL belt buckle), and crystal-clear storytelling that’s heavy on charm and light on exposition.

“Each scene had its own quirky rhythm,” said director Angela Kohler, who emphasized stillness and restraint to let the characters and visuals breathe. “We didn’t want to overedit—we wanted the effortlessness of CoinTracker to shine through.”

Kohler shot on the Sony FX3 with NiSi Athena Primes, capturing the stage-lit sets in 4K XAVC-I for that cinematic-yet-agile look.

Creative Simplicity, Powered by Personality

DEPT’s creative team—including Jahfre Colbert and Crystal Torres—leaned into a character-first approach, avoiding the pitfall of overexplaining crypto. Instead, it’s vibes over verbosity. Whether it’s rock climbing, cowboy poetry, or quiet dad energy, the throughline is clear: CoinTracker lets you do you while it handles the rest.

With the help of Bella’s lean, prepped, and efficient crew—including production designer Jasmine Garnet and wardrobe stylist Sunshine Madsen—the end result is a series of short, punchy spots that look like they belong in an A24 trailer lineup.

This marks Bella’s latest standout production, with Executive Producer David Perry and Supervising Producer Amanda Dillingham running a tight ship.

“CoinTracker has been the perfect client for bold, thoughtful creative,” noted Perry. “When you’ve got the right people and a clear vision, great work just clicks.”

The full campaign is now live on social and YouTube, with :15s and :06s tailored for maximum punch.
