Christy and Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney has officially put one of the internet’s most persistent curiosities to rest.
During a Vanity Fair lie-detector test with her The Housemaid co-star Amanda Seyfried, the 28-year-old actress was asked, very directly, about whether she’s had any plastic surgery. Seyfried didn’t tiptoe around it, posing what she called “the question on everybody’s mind.”
Sweeney laughed before answering plainly: yes, everything is real. She added that she’s never had any cosmetic work done anywhere on her body. The polygraph examiner quickly confirmed her response was truthful, at which point the conversation took a playful turn, with Seyfried jokingly asking if she could touch them. Sweeney, clearly in on the joke, agreed.
The moment went viral almost instantly, but it echoed comments Sweeney has made before. She has spoken openly about body image struggles as a teenager, admitting she once considered a breast reduction because she felt insecure about her curves. Ultimately, she decided against it after her mother warned she might regret it later. Looking back, Sweeney says she’s glad she didn’t go through with the surgery and has learned to embrace her body.
She’s also been candid about the pressure to alter her appearance in Hollywood. In past interviews, Sweeney revealed that as a teenager, she was advised to “fix” her face and consider Botox — a suggestion she says came when she was just 16 years old. Despite that pressure, she’s maintained that she’s never had Botox, fillers, or cosmetic procedures of any kind, noting she’s terrified of needles and prefers to let herself age naturally.
Sweeney has also pushed back against online speculation fueled by side-by-side photos comparing her now to childhood images. She’s pointed out the obvious: she’s older, wearing makeup, and under professional lighting — things that tend to change how someone looks.
For Sweeney, the takeaway is simple. Bodies change, rumors spread, and the internet loves a narrative. But when it comes to her appearance, she’s comfortable saying what she’s always said: she hasn’t altered it — and she’s perfectly fine owning exactly who she is.
