Smiles reign in Burberry’s Singin’ in the Hail spot

Now this is a holiday spot for all seasons. Fashion house Burberry brings joy to our faces with this precious Christmas film using an updated remix of the Gene Kelly classic Singin’ in the Rain as its score.

The 1:48 film, produced by RiffRaff Films and directed by MegaForce, features four spectacular dancers twisting and turning through the streets of Suffolk, while avoiding falling blocks of ice.

Each dancer, Kevin Bago, Robinson Cassarino, Chantel Food and Zhané Samuels, were choreographed by dance collective (La)Horde. Each are decked out in Burberry’s latest collection for the spot, with dressed head to toe in tartan and tweed.

The short film successfully manages to evoke the timelessness of the classic while ushering in a 21st century edge.

Riccardo Tisci, chief creative officer, told the Drum: “This campaign is about looking forwards, looking to the future – inspired by youth, it brings together a community of different talents and worlds as one. United by passion, commitment and love, this campaign is a celebration of their dreams, of exploring and of always going beyond.

Behind the Scenes

Made you smile didn’t it? Didn’t it? You’re welcome.

Screen Suffolk, the official film office for Suffolk, has announced that the film was partially shot at Lowestoft Seafront.

This was the first production of scale since the start of the pandemic to come to Suffolk and the film office was prepared to help make this Covid-secure shoot happen. Screen Suffolk worked closely with the location manager to secure much needed production space.

The request was ambitious with 50 crew and cast needed in Lowestoft for the shots to work. The shoot took place just before the second bank holiday in August and, according to FilmFixer, East Suffolk Council were incredibly helpful with their time and expertise.

A large section of the beach was closed to allow for clear backgrounds and an ambitious drone shoot. The whole advert was shot on film, so a large drone was required to lift the film camera.

The day of the shoot went without hitch, the weather held and as you can see from the film an overcast day was required and Lowestoft delivered.

The Reel 360 Team realizes there are many holiday spots yet to come, however it will be really tough to top this stylish and just fun Burberry effort.
