The Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild (IATSE Local 706) celebrated excellence across film, television, theater and music at the 13th Annual MUAHS Awards, held before a sold-out crowd at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
Feature motion picture winners included One Battle After Another, Sinners, and Frankenstein, while television honors went to The Studio, Palm Royale, Stranger Things: Season 5, Saturday Night Live, Dancing with the Stars, and Skeleton Crew.
In theater categories, The Monkey King received the California Regional Theatrical Award, and Frankenstein earned the Broadway/International Theater Award. The Commercial/Music Video Award went to Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra and the Walmart “WhoKnewVille” Holiday Campaign.
More than 850 guild members, industry executives, and press attended the MUAHS ceremony, hosted by actress and producer Rachael Harris. Frankie Grande returned as host of the “Live from the Red Carpet” pre-show livestream. Local 706 President Julie Socash presided over the evening.
Special Honors Spotlight Industry Veterans
Amy Madigan received the Distinguished Artisan Award in recognition of her celebrated career across film, television, and theater. An Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner, Madigan currently stars as Aunt Gladys in Zach Cregger’s Weapons, which has grossed more than $269 million worldwide and earned her a second Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
The MUAHS Vanguard Award was presented to Emmy-nominated make-up artist Michael Johnston, a defining creative force in children’s and teen television for more than three decades. Johnston’s work helped shape the look of numerous Nickelodeon hits, including All That, The Amanda Show, Zoey 101, Henry Danger, iCarly, Victorious, Drake & Josh, Sam & Cat, and Danger Force. The honor was presented by Frankie Grande.

His five-decade career includes an Academy Award nomination and multiple Emmy wins and nominations.

With a 60-year career spanning Elvis Presley’s Clambake, The Matrix, Forrest Gump, and Hook, Cory’s work reflects the evolution of hairstyling from classic Hollywood to the digital age.
