The 76th Creative Arts Emmy Awards delivered a major win for FX’s Shōgun, which dominated the second night of the ceremony by claiming an impressive 14 awards.
Set in 17th-century Japan, the epic drama adaptation of James Clavell’s novel took home honors across several key categories, including outstanding guest actor for Nestor Carbonell, casting, production design, makeup, and visual effects, cementing its place as a standout for the evening.
Another FX production, The Bear, followed closely with seven Emmys, including awards for guest actor Jon Bernthal and guest actress Jamie Lee Curtis. The show also earned recognition for its sound editing, casting, and picture editing, further solidifying its acclaim in the industry.
The Sunday ceremony, which spotlighted scripted programming and performance categories, also saw strong performances from Netflix’s Ripley and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, both securing three Emmys each. Among the other big winners were Baby Reindeer, The Crown, How I Met Your Father, and The Morning Show, all taking home two awards apiece.
A highlight of the night was the achievement of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who earned EGOT status with their win for original music and lyrics for Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It? from Only Murders in the Building.
Among other programs, five won two apiece.
Baby Reindeer, the unsettling Netflix limited series about a troubled comedian contending with a stalker, took casting for a limited or anthology series or movie and picture editing for a limited or anthology series or movie.
The Crown, the Netflix drama about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, won contemporary costumes for a series and production design for a narrative contemporary program (one hour or more).
The Hulu sitcom How I Met Your Father won cinematography for a multi-camera series (half-hour) and picture editing for a multi-camera comedy series.
The Morning Show, the Apple TV+ drama set in the world of television news, scored wins for contemporary makeup (non-prosthetic) and contemporary hairstyling.
In addition, Prime Video’s espionage drama Mr. & Mrs. Smith took the award for guest actress in a drama, which went to Michaela Coel, and stunt coordination for drama programming.
