Samara Weaving, known for her roles in horror hits like Ready or Not, Scream VI, The Babysitter, and this year’s Azrael, has thrilled fans with a Halloween tribute to The Fifth Element.
In a series of Instagram photos, Weaving transformed into Leeloo, the unforgettable character played by Milla Jovovich in Luc Besson’s ’90s sci-fi cult classic. Wearing the iconic orange suspender outfit and the instantly recognizable white costume from the movie, Weaving has arguably delivered one of the most authentic Leeloo cosplays to date.
Her photos have already generated excitement among her fanbase and sci-fi enthusiasts alike, with many voicing their approval her flawless homage to one of cinema’s most iconic sci-fi heroines. Take a look below:
Although The Fifth Element was a box office hit globally (it still ranks as the second-highest opening in France behind Independence Day), it didn’t fare as well in the U.S. Upon release, the film divided critics but has since become a beloved cult favorite, with fans embracing its unique blend of action, sci-fi, and quirky humor—qualities that some say place it in the “so bad it’s good” category.
Interest in a sequel has persisted over the years, with writer Robert Kamen revealing in a 2023 interview that a follow-up was initially planned. The original script for The Fifth Element was reportedly 180 pages, with Besson adding an additional part intended for a sequel, but the project never moved forward due to its modest U.S. earnings.
Weaving is also set to reprise her role as Grace in the recently announced Ready or Not sequel, giving fans even more to look forward to.
