Target has unveiled its holiday campaign for 2024, introducing “Kris from Target,” a charismatic team member who brings festive cheer to the season. Instead of our usual jolly head elf, this Kris is depicted as a muscular, stylish Target employee who brings a fresh and charismatic energy to the traditional figure.
The campaign, developed in collaboration with Mythology and directed by Wayne McClammy of Hungry Man, features Kris assisting customers and spreading holiday joy, all while exuding a “weirdly hot” charm that has garnered significant attention.
Brent Bailey plays Kris Kringle in the ads. Bailey is an actor and director who has also appeared in Lincoln Lawyer, Walker, NCIS, Lucifer, Think Like a Man, and Cape Cod Christmas. Sporting a red ensemble and a white beard, Kris K. is depicted as a modern-day Santa Claus, complete with reindeer and a red pickup truck bearing the license plate “SLEIGH.” Watch below:
In another spot, for Black Friday Deals, Kris shows the Target team his work-out routine for the big shopping day.
In a third, Kris K. talks to a reindeer about the joy and feasibility of giving Target gift cards.
Bailey brings charm and humor to the character, which has resonated with viewers and sparked discussions about creativity in holiday advertising.
The campaign has garnered significant attention online, with many praising his portrayal and expressing enthusiasm for this innovative take on Santa Claus. The ads have been described as a playful departure from the traditional Target holiday advertising, effectively capturing attention and driving sales with their cheeky and modern approach.
Overall, the 2024 Target holiday campaign successfully reimagines a classic character, offering a fresh perspective that aligns with contemporary sensibilities and enhances the festive shopping experience.
