Revolver Amsterdam has announced its upcoming feature film, The Occupant, has received an Epic MegaGrant from Epic Games.

The Epic MegaGrant will be used to accelerate the developmental use of groundbreaking filmmaking technologies with Unreal Engine in the real-time graphics and virtual production space for the film. This marks a major move for Revolver and the Dutch film industry into the sci-fi and tech arena on a global level.

The Revolver film is the powerful,  story-driven sci-fi film and artistic vision by director Hugo Keijzer. The film follows the main character Abby on a quest for her dying sister’s survival. Set in the icy Russian wilderness, Abby must make a choice between accepting the inevitable or abandoning reality when confronted by a mysterious helper.

The effective use of revolutionary gaming technology coupled with years of experience telling impactful stories will take the vision of this film to new heights.  Check out the trailer below:

According to Revolver Executive Producer Raymond van der Kaaij,The Occupant combines the best of two genres, it is an elevated sci-fi with a very human, dramatic core. A film by one of the most talented directors of this moment in The Netherlands, with dozens of commercials and short films under his belt. As a company which has been operating for more than a decade, we are always looking to push the boundaries of how great stories can be told.”

The Revolver exec adds, “To do justice to an incredible screenplay requires us to work with the most innovative partners in the industry. The project already received substantial recognition, by winning awards at prestigious internationally recognized festivals. Being a recipient of an Epic MegaGrant only confirms that we’re onto something special with this film.”

It’s a big move for Revolver and the Dutch film industry into the sci-fi and tech arena on a global level.

The news is nothing short of… epic.
