Reel Ad of the Week: Kool -Aid

kool-aid-lil-jon

Earlier this year, we did a story on what we believed to be the oddest pairing we had ever witnessed – Donny Osmond and L’il Yachty for Chef Boyardee. Together, they created the strangest and catchiest rap song that we had heard all year for a brand.

Until now.

Congrats to Chicago’s mcgarrybowen, who has topped that pairing with an even stranger “collabo” of Grammy award-winning rapper Lil Jon and Kraft-Heinz’s iconic brand, Kool-Aid.

Yeah that ‘Yeah!’ and ‘Oh yeah!’ Kool-Aid. The same Kool-Aid that’s been irrelevant for years.

Led by mcgarry’s CCO Kurt Fries, the duo have dropped a catchy new song update of, “All I Really Want for Christmas.” In a twist that is sure to make Frosty melt from its hotness, the duo known for their classic “YEAH!” taglines unknowingly crash a stranger’s house to well, have a house party. Watch the best video of the week below:

“It’s not every day people hear a song from two icons like Kool-Aid Man and Lil Jon,” says Rachel Drof, marketing director, beverages, Kraft Heinz. “We love finding unexpected moments to bring fun into peoples’ lives, and hope this epic collaboration brings some joy and plenty of “OH YEAH” moments to people everywhere this holiday season.”

You gots that right, Rachel. That’s why this is “REEL AD OF THE WEEK.” You guys made 64-year-old Kool-Aid relevant again.
