A man was arrested early Saturday morning during the Creative Artists Agency’s (CAA) packed Sundance Film Festival party at Park City’s High West Saloon following what authorities described as a racially charged altercation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the unidentified individual was not on the RSVP list for the invitation-only event and is believed to have gained entry through an alternate entrance while CAA was hosting its annual festival kickoff party celebrating independent film and its roster of talent.
Around midnight, the man allegedly caused a disturbance in the men’s restroom, where multiple witnesses reported racially charged remarks. Sources say the individual repeatedly expressed pride in being “white,” creating a tense confrontation that alarmed other guests. The situation escalated as he exited the restroom, where he allegedly punched a person of color in the face.
Security personnel intervened immediately and detained the man until Park City police arrived.
Park City Police confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that an arrest was made at High West Saloon in connection with the incident. Authorities declined to release the suspect’s identity or specify the charges. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office separately confirmed that the individual remained in custody as of Saturday afternoon but also declined further comment.
CAA has not issued a public statement regarding the incident.
