Peele, Smith rumored for Universal monster flick

(Could Jordan Peele and Will Smith be the next Monsters Inc?)

Jordan Peele, after two films and The Twilight Zone, has solidified himself as voice to be reckoned in horror and sci-fi. That will probably be even more cemented after the release of Candyman in September if theaters are open. Could Peele now be considering Will Smith for a leading role in a new monster film for Universal?

Last year, Universal signed Peele on for a five-year, first-look deal. The studio will also produce Peele’s next two movies, so it makes sense that Universal would be considering Peele for their next “Monsterverse” film.

While the film is untitled, it appears that Peele would like to team up with Will Smith (Bad Boys For Life) for the lead. Smith has appeared in many sci-fi films ranging from Independence Day to Men in Black. But he has never appeared in a full-on horror film.

This rumor comes from a Patreon post by Daniel Richtman, which  same report  linked Ryan Gosling to an untitled monster film. This was confirmed to be The Wolfman.

The Reel 360 team is betting on the two doing a Black Frankenstein.
