everything

Everything is Fine offers a glimpse into the lives of people on a New York City subway platform, capturing the bustling chaos of daily life in the digital age.

Director Jared Malik Royal drew inspiration from real-life interactions in the city, reflecting on the impact of technological and social change on culture.

The film follows a woman navigating the sensory overload of her commute, presenting a satirical dark comedy that sheds light on the struggles many face in modern society. Structured like a stage play, the story places viewers front and center, allowing them to experience the protagonist’s perspective as she tries to find solace in the midst of chaos. Watch below:

This piece was inspired by real events of day-to-day life in NYC,” said Royal. “A few interactions – not unlike those in the film – made me really stop and think. We’re living through times of extreme technological and social change and the effects on culture are starting to show themselves in extreme ways.

He adds, “I structured the story like a stage play that takes viewers front and center from the perspective of our protagonist, as they just try to enjoy the little things in their day. This satirical dark comedy simply observes the obvious – generally many people are not okay.”
