Nikki Glaser: “Everyone is fair game” at this year’s Golden Globes

Nikki Glaser has one rule heading into the Golden Globes this weekend: no one is off-limits. The comedian returns to host the awards ceremony for the second consecutive year on Sunday, and she’s making it clear that celebrities in the room should be ready to take a joke.

“Everyone is fair game,” Glaser told People. “I really feel that way.” She admitted she briefly considered sparing plus-ones, since they’re not technically being honored, but quickly reconsidered.

“I was like, maybe I’ll leave them alone,” she said, laughing. “But honestly, it’s still fair.” That doesn’t mean Glaser is looking to scorch the room. If anything, she’s drawing her line at intent.

“There are some people who are kind of protected figures,” she explained. “Other people might get upset on their behalf, but that’s really none of my business. If the person I’m joking about laughs, that’s reason enough for me to do it.”

After a well-received Golden Globes debut last year, Glaser says she’s careful not to cross into cruelty. “I’m not going to be so mean that anyone hates me for the rest of their career,” she said. “I’m writing from a place of love. I wouldn’t do a joke about someone I actually didn’t like.”

In fact, she insists the opposite is true. “If I joke about you, it’s because I admire you,” Glaser said. “I think you’re cool and probably have a good sense of humor.”

Still, some names come with extra pressure. Earlier this week, Glaser revealed she’d been warned about poking fun at Julia Roberts, long considered Hollywood’s untouchable “America’s Sweetheart.”

“I’m trying out my monologue around LA, and even the lightest joke about Julia Roberts? People are not there for it,” Glaser said on CBS Mornings. “So whatever I end up saying about her is the most fine-tuned joke I’ve worked on. It’s very delicate.”

Delicate or not, Glaser’s approach is clear: affection first, ego second, and laughter above all else. Whether the room agrees will be revealed live when the Golden Globes kick off Sunday night.

Taking place at the Hollywood Palladium, the 83rd Golden Globes will air on CBS on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 8 to 11 PM ET and streaming on Paramount+.
