New details have emerged following the death of Victoria Jones, the 34-year-old daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones, who was found unresponsive at San Francisco’s Fairmont Hotel early on New Year’s Day.
According to emergency dispatch audio obtained by People, the incident was classified as a “code 3 for the overdose, color change.” In medical terms, “color change” typically refers to cyanosis, a blue or purple discoloration of the skin, lips, or nails associated with critically low oxygen levels in the blood.
San Francisco Police and Fire Department units responded to the Fairmont at approximately 2:52 a.m. on Jan. 1. Authorities later confirmed they found a deceased individual at the scene. Law enforcement officials told NBC Bay Area that foul play is not suspected. The official cause of death has not yet been determined and remains pending the medical examiner’s report.
Additional details reported by the Daily Mail and cited by the New York Post suggest Victoria was discovered on the hotel’s 14th floor by a guest who initially believed she had passed out from drinking. Hotel staff reportedly attempted CPR before paramedics arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene. Those reports also state that no drug paraphernalia was found and there were no immediate signs of suicide or criminal activity. Authorities have not publicly confirmed those specific details.
Police have said it is still unclear whether Victoria was a registered guest at the hotel or how she came to be on the 14th floor.
Victoria was the daughter of Jones and his first wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. The former couple also share a son, Austin Jones, 43.
Court records reviewed by People and the New York Post show Victoria had multiple arrests in the past year. In April 2025, she was arrested in Napa County on misdemeanor charges, including obstructing a peace officer, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance. She pleaded not guilty. She was later arrested again on domestic battery and domestic violence-related charges and also entered not guilty pleas.
Victoria appeared alongside her father in Men in Black II (2002) and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005), and made a brief appearance on One Tree Hill in 2003. Representatives for Jones, the San Francisco Fairmont, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner have not responded to requests for comment.
