More than 30,000 women join GALE and MilkPEP for marathon

GALE and MilkPEP brought their second annual Every Woman’s Marathon to Scottsdale, Arizona this past weekend — and more than 30,000 women showed up to run on their own terms.

Over 4,000 participants completed the 26.2-mile course onsite, while another 26,000 women joined virtually via Strava, representing all 50 states and 10 countries, with ages ranging from 18 to 81.

One of the most notable stats: 43% were first-time marathoners, a strong signal that the event’s community-first format is attracting women who are traditionally left out of marathon culture.

Designed by women, for women, Every Woman’s Marathon replaces traditional podium finishes with recognition rooted in courage, compassion, and connection. Instead of racing the clock, runners are celebrated for showing up — for themselves and for each other. Running icons Kathrine Switzer and Des Linden served as Race Captains, cheering from the sidelines and awarding medals throughout the day.

“Every Woman’s Marathon proves what happens when community leads the course — thousands of women showed up for themselves and each other, and the finish line became something we crossed together,” said Alison Stelzer, GALE’s client partner with MilkPEP and a marathon participant. “Designed by women, for women, this race honors courage over clock, connection over competition.”

“Every Woman’s Marathon was built to make space for every woman’s story,” added Miranda Abney, Vice President of Consumer Marketing at MilkPEP. “It’s not about pace or place — showing up is the victory. It’s about running on your own terms, surrounded by women who lift you up.”
