Miss Piggy is never one to shy away from confidence, and she’s pretty sure Sabrina Carpenter felt it. The larger-than-life Muppets icon says her Disney+ and ABC co-star was “very intimidated” sharing the stage with her on the revived The Muppet Show, though Piggy insists she herself was completely unfazed by the pop star’s presence.
“Was I intimidated? If anything, I think you should ask Sabrina if she was intimidated by moi,” Piggy told E! News. “Well, actually, don’t ask her that, though. Just take my word for it. She was very intimidated.”
Ever the diplomat, Kermit the Frog quickly tried to smooth things over, offering a more gracious take on the experience. “What I think Missy Piggy is meaning to say, is that it was great to share the stage with Sabrina, who is an amazing singer and actress.” Piggy, naturally, wasn’t about to let that stand without commentary. “Sure, sure, sure, yeah. That’s what I meant,” she replied, dripping with sarcasm.
Carpenter appears as the special guest host in the one-off Muppet Show revival, which premieres this week and is being treated as a potential pilot for a full series return. The collaboration isn’t entirely new territory for the pair, either. During the final show of Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour in November 2024, the singer jokingly “arrested” Piggy in a playful onstage bit, a moment Piggy recently revisited with relish. “It’s happened before. But yes, in fact, I was a VIP guest at Sabrina’s concert,” Piggy told ToughPigs. “And the ‘10 count’ for being too hot is still on my record, but I won’t be fighting the charges. I mean, look at me!”
When the conversation turned to who should be hyping Piggy up the most, both Piggy and the interviewer agreed that responsibility fell squarely on Kermit’s shoulders. “I do, all the time, I’m contractually obligated to do so,” Kermit quipped.
The upcoming special also counts Seth Rogen as an executive producer and promises plenty of familiar Muppet mayhem. According to the official synopsis, “Kermit, Miss Piggy and the beloved Muppets ensemble are back with a brand-new special event. Music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter!”
