Miley Cyrus finally won her first Grammy Award last night and then made it two golden Gramophones as she took home the Record of the Year at the 66th awards for her chart-topping hit Flowers.

While Cyrus had previously been recognized at the Grammys, including nominations for Best Pop Vocal for her 2013 album Bangerz and Album of the Year for Lil Nas X’s 2021 album Montero, her wins at the “Biggest Night in Music” underscored her ongoing impact and relevance in the music industry.

Music legend, Mariah Carey, presented Cyrus with the award for Best Pop Solo Performance. Taking the stage, Cyrus delivered a characteristically irreverent and candid acceptance speech, particularly poignant. “This M.C. is gonna stand by this M.C. for this, because this is just too iconic,” upon accepting the award for her song Flowers. The pop sensation emerged victorious in a fiercely competitive field, triumphing over acclaimed artists including Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, Jon Batiste, Dua Lipa, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish. The award was presented by Mark Ronson and his mother-in-law, the esteemed actress Meryl Streep. “Flowers” soared to the summit of the Billboard Hot 100, reigning supreme for an impressive eight consecutive weeks.

In her characteristic style, Cyrus quipped, “This award is amazing, but I really hope it doesn’t change anything, because my life was beautiful yesterday.”

In her heartfelt speech, Cyrus expressed gratitude to her collaborators, their partners, and her dedicated fanbase. With a touch of humor, she concluded, “I don’t think I’ve forgotten anyone, but I might’ve forgotten underwear.”
