McDonald’s welcomes us back to McDonaldland

McDonaldsland

Ronald. Grimace. Hamburglar. Birdie. Mayor McCheese. They’re back—and they brought souvenirs. For the first time in more than two decades, McDonald’s is officially reopening the gates to McDonaldland. This fantastical universe has delighted generations of fans, and inviting everyone to take a trip.

Starting August 12, customers can order the new McDonaldland Meal, complete with a mystery-flavored Mt. McDonaldland Shake, your choice of a Quarter Pounder with Cheese or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, World Famous Fries, and an exclusive collectible souvenir tin that’s equal parts nostalgia and surprise.

“It’s not just a meal—it’s a portal,” said Jennifer “JJ” Healan, McDonald’s VP of U.S. Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture. “We’ve seen the love fans have for characters like Grimace and the Hamburglar, but many don’t realize there’s an entire magical world behind them. This campaign is our love letter to McDonaldland—a way to introduce it to new fans and welcome back the ones who grew up with it.”

Your Official McDonaldland Itinerary

Stop #1: Mt. McDonaldland Shake
This limited-time beverage was inspired by one of McDonaldland’s most iconic landmarks. The colorful blue “lava” and pink clouds are only half the fun—the flavor’s a secret, and only your taste buds can unlock it.

Stop #2: The Souvenir Shop
Each McDonaldland Meal comes with one of six collectible tins featuring stickers, postcards, and keepsakes inspired by classic characters. Trade ’em, treasure ’em, or try to collect the full set while supplies last.

Stop #3: A Trip Through Time
Originally launched in 1971, McDonaldland was home to a wild and wonderful array of characters, from Apple Pie Trees to Fry Guys. For over two decades, it appeared in TV spots, playgrounds, Happy Meals, and comic books, building a cult following. Now, the gang is reunited and ready to make new memories.

Stop #4: Wear It Loud
Starting Aug. 12, McDonald’s is teaming with Pacsun for a line of McDonaldland-themed apparel—think cozy sweat sets and retro-style tees. And on Aug. 18, Away is offering complimentary McDonaldland luggage tags and bag charms at retail locations (while supplies last), so you can bring a bit of magic on your next real-world adventure.

McDonaldland is open for business, and the Golden Arches are your gateway. Head to McDonaldland.com and follow @McDonalds across Instagram, TikTok, X and Facebook for the latest adventures. But hurry—this trip is only available for a limited time.

Adventure (and fries) await.
