Marvel Studios has finally pulled back the curtain on Avengers: Doomsday, releasing the film’s first full trailer Monday morning while simultaneously opening ticket sales for its new Infinity Vision premium large format screenings ahead of the movie’s Dec. 18 theatrical debut.
The trailer delivers Marvel’s biggest crossover event since Avengers: Endgame, assembling heroes from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Fantastic Four and Fox’s X-Men films as they prepare to face Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Victor Von Doom. Rather than returning as Tony Stark, Downey fully embraces Marvel’s iconic villain, narrating much of the trailer before squaring off with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the film’s climactic tease.
Fans also get glimpses of Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi and Channing Tatum returning as Gambit. Veteran X-Men stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming and Kelsey Grammer are all featured, reinforcing Marvel’s promise that three cinematic universes are on a collision course. Marvel describes Avengers: Doomsday as the story of “beloved heroes from three distinct universes” forced together to confront an existential multiverse threat unlike anything they’ve faced before. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay by longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely, marking the creative team’s first Avengers reunion since Endgame.
The trailer’s release comes just days before Marvel Studios takes the stage at San Diego Comic-Con, fueling speculation that Hall H attendees could see additional footage or learn more about the studio’s plans leading into Avengers: Secret Wars.
Alongside the trailer, Marvel unveiled a new poster and announced that tickets are now available for Infinity Vision certified auditoriums, a new Premium Large Format initiative promising larger screens, brighter projection and enhanced sound for moviegoers.
Avengers: Doomsday opens exclusively in theaters Dec. 18.
