Lionel Richie has reportedly been hospitalized following another health scare on his North American tour. According to TMZ, the 77-year-old singer checked himself into a hospital after his Saturday, Aug. 29 concert in St. Louis, where he reportedly asked for a chair as he closed the show with All Night Long.
Richie was admitted to the intensive care unit as a precaution while undergoing tests and remained hospitalized as of Monday afternoon, Aug. 31, according to the report.
TMZ said the singer is expected to be released Tuesday.
His next scheduled date on the Sing a Song All Night Long Tour is Sept. 26 in San Francisco, giving Richie several weeks before he is due back onstage.
The hospitalization comes roughly two months after Richie was forced to cut short a performance on the tour’s opening night in St. Paul.
During that June show, Richie reportedly became dizzy while performing Dancing on the Ceiling, sat down onstage and eventually left before completing the concert.

Saxophonist Dino Soldo later returned to tell the audience, “Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. He won’t be able to continue.”
Richie returned to performing days later and told fans he was doing well, thanking them for their messages and support. At the time, he wrote on Instagram that he was “grateful for all of you” and celebrated successful subsequent shows in Pittsburgh and Detroit.
Richie remains in the middle of a strong late-career run, fueled by arena touring, his continuing role on American Idol and a catalog that includes Hello, Say You, Say Me, Dancing on the Ceiling and All Night Long (All Night).
No diagnosis or specific cause for the latest hospitalization has been publicly disclosed.
