FilmLA reports The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has updated the guidelines that apply to film, television and commercial production in Greater Los Angeles.

The new guidelines, outlined in Appendix J of the Los Angeles County Public Health Officer Order, are applicable immediately to all current and future permits obtained through FilmLA. As before, all permit seekers must affirm their responsibility to abide by the Appendix J guidelines as a condition of film permit release.

Here is a rundown of changes in the new Appendix J, as summarized by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health:

  • Indoor dining is now allowed at 50% capacity (max 200 people), but outdoor dining is still strongly recommended. Productions are urged to continue using outdoor dining structures as much as possible, as the safest place to remove your mask near others is always outdoors.
  • Outdoor productions with an audience or attendees can now follow capacity limits set in DPH’s new Outdoor Live Performance Protocol – Appendix Z.  Audiences must be masked, and individuals or households placed 6 feet apart. Capacity is 33%, or 67% if all are vaccinated or tested (but 6 foot distancing and masking still required).
  • Indoor audiences are currently still limited to the hired audience provision – limit 50 hired, tested, and masked workers. However, the state will soon release Indoor Live Event Guidance, with higher limits. Please see the state’s preliminary information on Indoor Seated Live Events and Performances in their Blueprint for A Safer Economy table.
