Kia unveils 2027 “Camouflage” Telluride ahead of global debut

Kia Telluride

Kia America is teasing the next evolution of its flagship SUV with the reveal of a stunning pre-production 2027 Telluride, cloaked in a custom camouflage wrap that hides as much as it reveals.

Developed by Kia Design Center America (KDCA), the “Camouflage Telluride” takes to the rugged trails of California’s Alabama Hills in a new spot produced by David&Goliath, offering fans their first real-world look at the next generation of Kia’s beloved adventure machine.

With its global debut set for November 20 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, this special-edition wrap showcases Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy. This creative ethos defines the brand’s sculptural, nature-inspired aesthetic.

“Designing a wrap for Telluride is far different than designing the vehicle beneath the vinyl,” said Tom Kearns, Vice President and Senior Chief Designer, KDCA. “We wanted to hide the all-new Telluride in plain sight — in a way that was both eye-catching and thought-provoking.”

The wrap’s intricate design draws from hundreds of early sketches, with intersecting outlines and layered silhouettes that obscure the vehicle’s final form while hinting at its evolution. Inspired by artists Keith Haring and Mr. Doodle (Sam Cox), the abstract pattern reduces Telluride’s lines to pure form — part camouflage, part kinetic art piece.

Color also plays a major role: a gradient that shifts from orange at the front to purple at the rear, symbolizing energy, motion, and contrast — key principles of Opposites United. Subtle map coordinates (37.9375° N, 107.8123° W) printed along the lower doors serve as an Easter egg nod to the SUV’s namesake — Telluride, Colorado.

Shot in the Alabama Hills of central California, the high-action teaser highlights the new Telluride tackling steep inclines, rocky terrain, sandy washes, and water crossings, a testament to its off-road prowess and refined durability.

With the Sierra Nevada peaks looming in the background and the Telluride’s form hiding in plain sight, the teaser reaffirms Kia’s commitment to design innovation, adventure, and the art of exploration, just ahead of its grand reveal in Los Angeles.

“Pictures of camouflaged development vehicles are common,” said Russell Wager, Vice President of Marketing, Kia America. “But we wanted to do something special — to show this pre-production Telluride in an environment that pushes its limits.”

David Angelo, Founder and Creative Chairman of David&Goliath, added, “The camo wrap isn’t just a disguise, it’s a creative expression of discovery, curiosity, and the artistry behind Kia’s design philosophy. We wanted to build anticipation for what’s coming while celebrating the boldness that defines Telluride.”
