Institute Signs Award-Winning Director Erik Morales

Erik Morales

Filmmaker Erik Morales has officially joined the roster at Institute, the acclaimed production company known for championing diverse creative voices. Institute will now represent Morales for commercial work in the U.S. market.

Morales has earned international recognition for his signature style—visually captivating, emotionally grounded, and technically forward-thinking. His ability to fuse innovation with authenticity has made him a sought-after talent in both commercial and documentary filmmaking.

His commercial credits span some of the biggest global brands, including Nike, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Coca-Cola, Diesel, IKEA, Seagram’s, Zara, and Sony. Notable campaigns include Cupra’s “Seven Seconds,” a cinematic meditation on first impressions, and Cruzcampo’s “Con Mucho Acento,” which used deepfake technology to resurrect Spanish icon Lola Flores in a powerful celebration of Andalusian identity. His work has been honored at major festivals, including Cannes Lions.

Morales’ documentary shorts—Riders of the Well of Dead, Immortals, and A Girl in a Fortress—have been featured by CNN, National Geographic, Nowness, Salon, and The Verge, and have screened at top-tier festivals such as TIFF, Raindance, and Sheffield DocFest, where his work received awards and critical acclaim.

“I felt an instant connection with the team at Institute,” said Morales. “Their mission to elevate underrepresented voices and their woman-led leadership are both meaningful to me. They bring energy and boldness to their work, and I’m proud to join them.”

Tori Palmatier, Institute’s Managing Director, added, “Erik’s work stopped me in my tracks—especially the Cupra Tavascan film with Willow Smith. His ability to use visual effects sparingly, always in service of the story, shows true creative maturity. He’s incredibly sharp, funny, and a brilliant storyteller. We’re beyond excited to welcome him.”

Along with his new partnership in the U.S., Morales is also represented by Stink (Germany), Blur (Spain), Primo (Latin America and Mexico), Earlyman Film (India), and IC (France).

Reel 360 News wishes Erik the best of luck.
