It’s Hobb and Shaw vs. Black Superman

Hobbs-Shaw-Fast-Furious

It there any guiltier of a pleasure than a Fast and Furious film?

I have to admit, after trying to resist the B-movies on wheels forever, I have finally given in and really enjoy them.

Two of the characters I’ve particularly enjoyed are Lucius “Luke” Hobbs (played by Dwayne Johnson since 2011’s Fast Five) and Deckard Shaw (played by Jason Statham since Fast 7).

Now the two rivals are paired together in the Fast and Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw. Universal has released the new second trailer, and it’s chock-full of fun, insane, summer action with a “genetically-enhanced” Idris Elba. Take a look below:

While the Fast and Furious films remain one of the most lucrative in history, having earned over $5 billion in global revenue from its eight entries, Johnson implied in a lengthy interview with Rolling Stone that he may not return… to the untitled Fast & Furious 9. This is due mostly to a highly-publicized feud with Fast star Vin Diesel.

Hobbs & Shaw is being directed David Leitch (Deadpool 2) from a script written by franchise veteran Chris Morgan. Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Seven Bucks Productions’ Hiram Garcia are producing. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Vanessa Kirby, Eddie Marsan, Eiza Gonzalez and Idris Elba.

Hobbs & Shaw will hit theaters August 2, 2019.
