He’s back! ‘Hot Santa’ from Target makes joyful return

Hot Santa Target

Kris K., otherwise known affectionately (really affectionately) as “Hot Santa,” from Target, the unexpectedly viral “team member,” who stole millions of hearts (and a fair number of thirst tweets) last holiday season, is officially back. And this year, the red-sweatered charmer is delivering even more humor, heart and holiday magic as the face of Target’s new campaign, Kris K. Is Back.

Target’s 2025 holiday push leans into a simple truth: shoppers are craving joy. With more than half of Americans saying they’re prioritizing small moments of happiness this season, the retailer is doubling down on the idea that holiday errands don’t have to feel like work. In Target’s world, whether you’re dashing through the aisles, scrolling online or catching up on TikTok, even a routine shopping trip can feel fun again.

No one embodies that spirit better than Kris K. Last year, he became a full-blown cultural moment, racking up over 70 million TikTok views under #TargetSanta and picking up the affectionate nickname “Hot Santa.” This time around, the campaign expands his world and leans into the playful lore fans created for him.

“Kris K. captured hearts last holiday season, and we’re thrilled to bring him back for round two,” said Michelle Mesenburg, Target’s Senior Vice President of Creative and Content. “He embodies the joy, ease and inspiration that define the Target experience.”

What’s New in the 2025 Campaign

The return began October 26 (don’t judge us for being late), when the first broadcast spot premiered, spotlighting Kris K.’s handpicked gifts of the season. Additional ads roll out throughout the holidays, revealing more about the man himself – from his love of football and travel to his side-hustle as an amateur DJ.

A tongue-in-cheek social video also dropped October 27, featuring a returning character: the shopper who labeled Kris K. “weirdly hot” in last year’s commercial. Consider it Target’s winking acknowledgement that their holiday hero has fans. Watch below:

Across a slate of 10 broadcast, streaming, radio and social spots, Kris K. guides viewers through two essential holiday missions: finding the perfect gifts and creating memorable celebrations. He also dishes insider tips on Black Friday deals, Target Circle 360 perks and even same-day gift delivery.

And this year, Kris K. isn’t confined to the store. Expect him to pop up at home, in the stands at a game, and even onboard a plane, his biggest world-building leap yet.
