The first teaser trailer for Supergirl has arrived, offering a dynamic look at Milly Alcock’s take on Kara Zor-El as she embarks on an interstellar journey fueled by vengeance and justice.
As Marvel fans continue waiting for the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer, now widely expected to leak from early Avatar: Fire and Ash screenings next week, DC Studios shifts the spotlight with a bold “Look Out” message of its own. The DCU’s Supergirl is coming in hot for summer 2026.
Alcock’s Kara Zor-El is instantly established as a very different kind of hero than her cousin Superman. James Gunn’s fingerprints are visible throughout the teaser, from the punchy soundtrack to the cosmic production design. But director Craig Gillespie infuses the footage with the same punk-rock charge that defined his work on Cruella.
Much of the teaser focuses on Kara’s efforts to protect Ruthye Marye Knoll while fending off a swarm of intergalactic bounty hunters. The preview closes with a reveal fans have been waiting for: Jason Momoa’s full debut as Lobo. The Scourge of the Cosmos has officially entered the DCU. Watch below:
Speaking to GamesRadar+ earlier this week, Alcock explained why Supergirl’s flaws are part of her appeal. “I think that what Supergirl represents for young women, especially, is that you can be flawed,” she said. “You don’t have to be perfect in order to come to some sort of internal self-resolution. I think that we’re kind of thrust upon this narrative, especially women, that you have to be perfect. I think Kara beautifully leans into her flaws. I think that’s really, really special.”
Gillespie echoed that sentiment, sharing his enthusiasm for Kara’s unconventional path. “She gets dragged very reluctantly into the world of having to be a superhero. The way she handles that, the way that she deals with it, and the way that she finds herself through that story is really fascinating. And it’s incomplete, which I love as well.”
The plot says: When a ruthless enemy strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El reluctantly teams up with an unlikely companion for an epic cosmic quest that pits vengeance, justice and identity on a collision course. Alcock stars alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and Jason Momoa.
