GSD&M has named Lee Newman as its new President, effective January. Newman, formerly the CEO of MullenLowe, will report to GSD&M’s CEO Duff Stewart and will be tasked with enhancing the agency’s client portfolio.
Newman brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as the CEO of MullenLowe, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the company’s social media and behavioral science practices. His career includes a three-year tenure as the President of Ogilvy in Chicago and a role as Managing Director at Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam. Notably, Newman had a prior stint with GSD&M as the SVP-group account director from 2005 to 2008, during which he led the BMW account.
Stewart expressed confidence in Newman’s ability to drive growth, stating, “Lee is an agency builder who quickly sees potential across capabilities and innovates to drive scale and growth. He’s become a proven leader of global brands and agencies.”
Additionally, Nancy Ryan, a veteran with 27 years at GSD&M, has been promoted to Chief Client Officer. The appointments come on the heels of a successful creative year for GSD&M, marked by campaigns like Capital One’s “Multiple Taylors” featuring Taylor Swift and being named Stanley’s first TikTok agency of record.
GSD&M’s client roster includes prominent names such as Southwest Airlines, U.S. Air Force, Popeyes, and Goodyear.
Reel 360 News wishes Lee the best of luck at GSD&M!
