Twenty years after The Devil Wears Prada became a cultural shorthand for ambition, power, and weaponized wit, its long-anticipated sequel is officially back in stride.
The newly released trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 brings Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs and Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton face-to-face once again, offering an immediate reminder that time may soften edges, but it doesn’t dull instincts.
“You’ve changed. You’re much more confident,” Emily observes in the trailer, before puncturing the moment with familiar precision: “You kept those eyebrows, though, didn’t you?”
The film reunites the original ensemble, Meryl Streep as the formidable Miranda Priestly, Hathaway, Blunt, and Stanley Tucci as longtime Runway fixture Nigel, alongside returning director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna.
Set once again in New York City, the sequel revisits the glossy corridors of Runway magazine while expanding its world with a new cast that includes Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also return as Andy’s longtime friends Lily and Irv. W
The trailer teases high-fashion set pieces, including a Met Gala sequence featuring Miranda and Nigel—suggesting the sequel will balance industry spectacle with character-driven tension. Watch below:
Ahead of the trailer’s debut, Streep, Hathaway, Blunt, and Tucci spoke with Vogue about stepping back into a film that never stopped resonating with audiences. Streep described the experience as a rediscovery.
Blunt, meanwhile, acknowledged how effortlessly Emily resurfaced. “This character fits me a little too well,” Blunt said. “She’s unhinged. That might be something I should reflect on.”
Filming the sequel in New York last summer drew large crowds and nonstop social media attention, something the cast noted as emblematic of how much both the industry and audience engagement have shifted since 2006.
Produced by Wendy Finerman and executive produced by Karen Rosenfelt, Michael Bederman, and McKenna, The Devil Wears Prada 2 will debut exclusively in theaters on May 1, 2026, via 20th Century Studios. The clothes may change. The hierarchy may evolve. But Runway, it seems, never loses its bite.
