Garage Beer, the crisp small-batch light beer that’s become a go-to for fans of “beer that just tastes like beer,” is crashing Halloween in a way no brewery has before. The brand has teamed with legendary illustrator Tim Jacobus — best known for his iconic Goosebumps covers — for a fright-filled takeover dubbed Garage Fear.
Rolling out nationwide, limited-edition 12-packs of Garage Beer (classic and lime) feature Jacobus’ gory, tongue-in-cheek illustrations. The artwork depicts Garage Beer co-owner Jason Kelce, locked in battle with monsters in his own haunted garage — a scene that’s equal parts gruesome and hilarious.
“It was a blast to take the classic, oozing, slimed cover formula and conjure up a nightmare where Jason Kelce is fighting for the last beer while defending the haunted garage!” Jacobus said. “Totally ridiculous concept… but, honestly, I’ve been in worse places to get a beer!”
Fans can also snag Garage Fear: The Cursed Can, an exclusive adult comic book telling the story of Jason’s haunted garage showdown. Only 100 copies will be printed, available via Garage Beer’s online shop. For superfans, Jacobus’ original illustrations will be released as 11×17 collectible posters.
The campaign won’t stop at packaging or print. In September, Garage Beer will debut a fully animated short film featuring both Kelce brothers, pushing the crossover into full-on horror parody. And for the diehards who want to live the nightmare, Garage Fear will culminate in a pop-up haunted house at Field of Screams in St. Louis, MO.
While the visuals are pure horror-comedy, the beer itself remains unchanged: 95 calories, 4% ABV, still easy-drinking. “If pumpkin beer scares you, don’t worry,” the brand teases. “Garage Fear is horrifying in all the right ways — but it actually tastes good.”
With horror nostalgia, football star power, and a dash of ridiculousness, Garage Beer is out to prove that even in October, nothing pairs better with a scare than a cold, no-frills light beer.
