HBO has conjured up the second official teaser for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, giving fans their most expansive look yet at the new Wizarding World series ahead of its Christmas 2026 debut.
The eight-episode first season stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, introducing a new generation of actors to roles that have become some of the most recognizable in pop culture.
This time around, HBO is revealing considerably more of Hogwarts.
The new teaser features Harry’s arrival at the school, the Sorting Hat, Quidditch and new glimpses of several of the story’s most iconic characters, including John Lithgow’s Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu’s Severus Snape, Janet McTeer’s Minerva McGonagall and Nick Frost’s Rubeus Hagrid.
And yes, Snape already appears to have decided he’s not particularly fond of Harry. Take a look below:

The series begins where every Potter fan knows it must: Harry living with the Dursleys and believing himself to be an ordinary boy until a mysterious Hogwarts acceptance letter reveals an entirely different truth.
Soon, Harry discovers the hidden magical world, meets Ron and Hermione, and begins navigating life at Hogwarts, where friendship, rivalries, and considerably darker secrets await him.
The new adaptation is being positioned as a more expansive retelling of J.K. Rowling’s seven novels, with each season expected to tackle one book and use television’s longer format to explore characters and storylines that received less screen time in the original films.
The huge supporting cast also includes Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch and Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell.
Behind the scenes, Francesca Gardiner writes and executive produces the series, while Succession veteran Mark Mylod executive produces and directs multiple episodes. David Heyman, who produced the original Harry Potter films, also returns as an executive producer alongside Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts.
HBO is clearly thinking well beyond Year One. Development on Season 2 is already underway, with HBO chief Casey Bloys previously confirming that writers have begun work on the next chapter to avoid excessively long gaps between seasons as the young cast grows up.
For fans who have spent the past two decades revisiting Hogwarts, the second teaser offers something familiar but increasingly distinct from the movies that came before it.
New faces. New interpretations. More room to explore the books.
