The CW has unveiled the trailer for the highly anticipated fourth and final season of Superman & Lois. With a two-episode premiere set for October 7, the show promises a mix of emotional drama, action-packed battles, and fresh challenges for the iconic superhero family.

Following the explosive events of the season 3 finale, fans have been aware that Superman (played by Tyler Hoechlin) would be exiting the series early on, but the new trailer gives a glimpse of the heart-wrenching moment Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) and her sons discover Clark Kent’s lifeless body. The teaser sets up the emotional and gripping journey ahead as the family grapples with their loss.

Stepping up to fill the void left by his legendary father, Jordan (Alex Garfin) looks ready to take on the mantle of heroism. However, it remains to be seen if he will be able to match wits with the show’s formidable Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz). The trailer also hints that Doomsday, who mortally wounded Superman, may still be a lingering threat, marking a departure from the classic Death of Superman storyline, in which the Man of Steel ultimately vanquishes his monstrous foe before succumbing to his injuries.

The trailer concludes on a hopeful note, as Superman’s family alludes to finding a way to “save him,” adding further intrigue to the upcoming episodes. Watch below:

Executive producer Brent Fletcher shared with Entertainment Weekly that while the series will draw inspiration from the comics, it aims to carve out its own unique path. “This is our version of it, and it incorporates every character and the themes of the show,” Fletcher explained. “There are a lot of big surprises in it that are thrilling as an audience member, but there’s also big emotion.”

The fourth season picks up directly from where the last one left off: Superman locked in a fierce, moon-shattering battle with Luthor’s monstrous creation. As Clark fights for his life, chaos unfolds on Earth. Lois, Jordan, and Jonathan (Michael Bishop) are racing to rescue General Lane (Dylan Walsh), who Luthor’s henchmen have kidnaped.

Adding to the turmoil, Lex Luthor has permanently moved to Smallville as part of a sinister plan to destroy Lois Lane. Meanwhile, Lana Lang (Emanuelle Chriqui) uses her position as Mayor to challenge Luthor’s schemes, risking everything, including her relationship with John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks). With General Lane missing, Irons is forced to rejoin the Department of Defense, putting his Ironworks plans on hold.

The tension isn’t just limited to the central conflict; Chrissy Beppo (Sofia Hasmik) and Kyle Cushing (Eric Valdez) face challenges that threaten their future together. At the same time, Sarah Cortez (Inde Navarette) and Natalie Irons (Tayler Buck) find themselves confronting difficult decisions as they join the fight against Luthor.

As Clark’s battle with the terrifying creature intensifies, the world is faced with a sobering question: What if Superman never returns?

Season four of Superman & Lois is set to be a compelling and emotional journey, closing out the series with a story full of surprises, challenges, and heartfelt moments that are sure to captivate fans.
