Let’s be honest: holiday gifting can be painful. That’s why Esurance is making this holiday season easier by creating special gift-giving-type things that feature humorous yet honest messages letting loved ones, and kind-of, sort-of friends, know the real reason behind the gift they’re getting.
The limited-edition gift wrap, from Chicago-based Leo Burnett, includes first-of-its-kind wrapping paper with Esurance spokesperson Dennis Quaid’s face. They’re calling it “Surprisingly Painless Gifting,” because it’s simple and honest — just like their insurance. Beginning Monday, December 17, find all gift-packaging products here.
“I never know what to give around the holidays — usually I just settle for a DVD of one of my classics,” said likeable actor Dennis Quaid. “I’m sure you’ve been there, too. But now, you can give the gift of me, Dennis Quaid. Anyone can be in movies, TV shows and commercials, but to get your own wrapping paper? I really must be highly likeable.”

In addition to wrapping paper with Dennis Quaid’s smiling face, Esurance is offering gifting materials such as tags, bags, boxes and cards, capturing the sentiment of holiday gifting with humorous yet honest statements printed across the products, for example:
“We’re work friends and I don’t know you that well, so here’s a gift card.”
“Pick out something nice and tell everyone it’s from me.”
“Before you open this, I’d like to remind you that you’re very hard to buy for.”
“I vaguely described you to the guy at the store and he told me to get you this.”
What does holiday gifting have to do with insurance? “Absolutely nothing, except for the fact that both can be a pain,” said Nancy Abraham, Vice-President, Integrated Marketing communications. “We recently set out on a mission to make the insurance experience surprisingly painless — simple to use, easy to understand and affordable. With the holidays approaching, we asked ourselves what else could we make surprisingly painless? The unanimous answer: holiday gifting.”
Where to Find Surprisingly Painless Gifting
On Monday, December 17, you can order the Surprisingly Painless Gifting accessories for free online, including shipping, at surprisinglypainlessgifting.com, while supplies last*.
Esurance also surprised holiday shoppers in Chicago at a pop-up with free packaging for their gifts using the Dennis Quaid wrapping paper. New Yorkers were also able to stop by a second pop-up experience at 61 W 23rd Street.
