Editorial Board finds joy in Salvation Army holiday campaign

Editorial Board has collaborated with The Salvation Army on its new holiday giving campaign. The work, created with agency Lerma, embraces the idea that generosity and kindness can spark real joy during a season when many need it most.

“The world has gotten heavy,” says Lerma Creative Director Bill Cochran. “We are surrounded by negativity, and even the act of helping others can start to feel like a burden. Our team was inspired by the verse from Second Corinthians that says God loves a cheerful giver. That reminder helped us lean into the idea that giving should lift us up. ‘Give with Joy’ celebrates the energy and connection that comes from generosity.”

Editor Elizabeth M. Stewart says she welcomed the chance to help shape a campaign rooted in positivity. “Every year, working with Lerma and The Salvation Army means creating work that centers real people and authentic emotion,” she says. “This year’s theme of joy was such a gift. My focus was on finding moments that shine, connect and truly convey the feeling the campaign is built on.”

The first spot, “Give With Joy,” moves to the beat of a bright, infectious song that weaves together scenes of people sharing in both celebrations and small acts of kindness. From decorating the tree to offering a warm meal, the edit highlights the everyday gifts that make the season meaningful. Watch below:

A second spot, “Joy To The World,” features a stirring rendition of the classic carol performed by a young boy whose sincerity reflects The Salvation Army’s steadfast commitment to its communities.

For those who can spare it, a monthly gift of twenty–five dollars helps bring joy and essential support to neighbors who need it most.
