In the dynamic world of filmmaking, certain collaborations stand out for their innovation and creativity. One such partnership is the directing duo known as Call Me Al, who are now bringing their vibrant energy to Rakish’s dynamic roster.
Comprising Alisa Allapach and Phillip Montgomery, Call Me Al derives inspiration from Alisa’s father, Al Allapach, an immigrant whose daring spirit fuels their creative endeavors. This unique blend of passion and panache has led to a portfolio filled with award-winning work for top brands like Google, Uber, Jack Daniels, IBM, and more.
“Rakish is like a homecoming,” said Phillip Montgomery, Co-Director of Call Me Al. “I had the pleasure of working with Preston years ago and knew what he was building with the other incredible directors would be something special. So, when we had the opportunity to join Rakish as Call Me Al, it was a no-brainer.”
Alisa Allapach, Co-Director of Call Me Al, added, “Rakish is the best of both worlds: a boutique operation that gives tons of love to its directors, agencies, and clients, while doing top-shelf, prestigious work. It’s an honor to be part of the family.”
Preston Garrett, Rakish’s managing director, expressed his excitement about the new partnership, stating, “When Call Me Al decided to join Rakish it was like I was suddenly allowed to exhale a deep breath after holding it in for five years. We are friends, first and foremost. Having the opportunity to work with your near-and-dears in such a competitive industry is literally the dream.”
Call Me Al has recently worked on notable projects such as a campaign for McDonald’s featuring international hip-hop sensation Young Miko, and an anime-inspired series for McDonald’s pop-up stores. They also directed a compelling campaign for Deloitte, highlighting partnerships with the LA 2028 Olympics, USGA, and WNBA. Additionally, they produced a series of engaging films for COX Business in collaboration with FCB Chicago.
Their heartfelt campaign for the Stop AAPI Hate organization has been making waves across digital platforms. This campaign, a tribute to AAPI Heritage Month, unites the community with themes of resilience, celebration, solidarity, and resistance. It features diverse stories and voices, including those of David Rasavong, Sunayana Dulama, Bùi Như Mai, and choreographer Tiana Liufau, known for her work on Disney’s Moana.

Garrett concludes with a vision for Call Me Al’s future: “There’s a future I see with Call Me Al that excites me very much. It’s underpinned by an evolution of what it looks and feels like to be irreverent in advertising. Their sensibility embraces the notion that irreverence can still go down smoothly and with joy.”
Expanding their global presence, Call Me Al is represented by Pull The Trigger for the Ireland/UK market and by GoEast Films for Eastern Europe and Asian territories, solidifying their reach across diverse cultural landscapes.
Reel 360 News wishes Call Me Al the best of luck.
