Multiple sources are reporting that a grand jury weighing the death of Celeste Rivas, 14, is expected to be asked to return an indictment against singer D4vd.
Despite earlier reports suggesting prosecutors were using an investigative grand jury only to gather evidence, sources now say this panel has full authority to indict and is actively considering criminal charges. Prosecutors believe the evidence supports D4vd’s involvement in Celeste Rivas’ death and are preparing to put the question to jurors formally.
According to TMZ, key testimony has already been heard. Earlier this month, D4vd’s day-to-day manager, Robert Morgenroth, spent several days before the grand jury. According to sources present at the courthouse, Morgenroth privately complained that prosecutors pressed him aggressively on why law enforcement was not immediately contacted. He reportedly responded that his responsibility was managing the artist’s tour schedule, not handling police matters.
Investigators found Rivas’ body inside a Tesla registered to D4vd after the vehicle was towed from the Hollywood Hills in September. Authorities later executed a search warrant at a nearby rental home where the singer had been staying, seizing several items, including a laptop. Law enforcement has stated that D4vd was known to the victim and had an ongoing relationship with her.
While D4vd initially cooperated with investigators, sources say his posture changed as the probe intensified, coinciding with the cancellation of tour dates. Court records related to the case were subsequently sealed, further limiting public access to the evidence presented so far.
Grand jury proceedings are expected to continue into February, meaning any indictment may still be weeks away. The Los Angeles Police Department has not announced charges publicly, and the investigation remains active.
D4vd began making music while creating original tracks for Fortnite montage videos, a workaround to avoid copyright claims. His breakout came in 2022 when Romantic Homicide and Here with Me gained massive traction on TikTok, propelling him from online obscurity to a recording deal with Interscope and Darkroom Records.
Translation: this case is not cooling off. It’s moving forward, quietly, deliberately, and with prosecutors clearly lining up their shot.
