Christopher Nolan is returning to myth on a monumental scale. His next feature, The Odyssey, is a mythic action epic filmed across multiple countries using brand new IMAX film technology, bringing Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time.
Set to open in theaters worldwide on July 17, 2026, The Odyssey reimagines the ancient tale through Nolan’s signature lens, blending visceral action, sweeping landscapes, and immersive large-format filmmaking. Shot entirely on IMAX film, the project represents another technological leap for the filmmaker, who continues to push the boundaries of how epic stories are experienced on the big screen.
Described as a mythic action epic, the film marks Nolan’s most overt step into legend and classical storytelling, marrying ancient narrative with cutting-edge filmmaking technology. With its global scope, IMAX first approach, and prestige ensemble, The Odyssey positions itself not just as an adaptation, but as a cinematic event designed to be experienced at full scale.
